The ash is the part that doesn't burn off
Soot burns away during a normal regeneration. Ash does not. It builds up in the channels over the life of the filter and it is what is left behind when a forced regen or an in-situ clean hasn't fixed the problem.
Taking the filter off the vehicle lets us work on every channel directly and put controlled heat through it rather than relying on exhaust temperature and flow to do the job. It takes longer than a bottle of additive. It also works on filters that additive was never going to touch.

Common questions
My DPF light is on and the van has gone into limp mode. What now?
That usually means the filter is too blocked to regenerate on its own. A steady 20-minute run at motorway speed sometimes clears a light blockage. If the light stays on, the filter needs to come off the vehicle and be cleaned properly. Call or message us and we will talk you through it before you spend anything.
What is thermal DPF cleaning?
The filter is removed from the vehicle and taken through controlled heating and cooling cycles that oxidise the trapped soot and loosen baked-on ash, which is then cleared from the channels. Because it happens off the vehicle, every channel is treated rather than whatever the exhaust flow happens to reach.
I have already had a DPF clean elsewhere and the light came back.
This is common with filters carrying heavy ash rather than soot. Ash does not burn off during a normal regeneration and it is the hardest part to shift. Bring it to us and we will assess whether a thermal clean will get it back or whether the filter is genuinely finished.
Will a blocked DPF fail my MOT?
A missing or malfunctioning DPF is a common cause of an emissions failure. Cleaning is usually far cheaper than replacement, so it is worth having it assessed before your test rather than after.
Can every DPF be saved?
No. A filter that is cracked, melted or soaked in oil from an upstream fault cannot be recovered by cleaning, and we will tell you that rather than take your money. If there is an underlying engine fault causing the blockage, that needs fixing too or the new filter will block as well.
